AMAZING ASHANTI TOUR
We did the ultimate experience Ashanti tour (instead of a shorter one), because we thought that all activities would be valueable to our experience of Banko and surroundings. It really was a nice tour! We visited exclusive places such as traditional shrines and Prayer’s Mountain and learned a lot. It was nice to be accompanied by tourguides Justice and Lydia who, since they’re familiar with the place, really add value to the conversations that we had there. The host Pat is also amazing. Together they will make you feel welcome and make sure you’ll enjoy your stay. You can ask them anything.

My stay at the Moon and Star Guesthouse was the highlight of my trip to Ghana. Your delightful lodge, the wonderful meals, the evening BBQ, the carefully guided tours – all of it was a magnificent package. I realized a lifetime dream to sit in a waterfall. It was ecstasy! Trekking into the national sanctuary with Mr. Emmanuel, the transport crew, and Park Ranger Daniel was, in itself, a fantastic way to spend a day in the wild. My family felt protected during our exciting hike into the nature reserve. I wouldn’t have ventured into the falls without that security and would have missed (most likely) my last chance for a tremendous moment. The evening BBQ was a lovely way to unwind and interact with the guesthouse team.

Naturally, the Ultimate Experience journey through Ashanti is the most extensive. You will climb a mountain, go to the craft villages, spend a day in Kumasi, visit traditional shrines, visit the waterfalls and the jungle of Bomfobiri and participate in the traditional cooking class. The ultimate experience option is really for you if you want to see and experience as much as possible during your stay with us in Banko.
If you want to take it a bit slower, enjoy the garden more, maybe go for a swim nearby and you don’t feel like dealing with the hustle and bustle of Kumasi, then the standard 4-day Ashanti tour is definitely for you!
During the 3-day trip, you will climb the mountain, participate in the Traditional Cooking class, and go to the craft villages and to Bomfobiri.

Enjoying a truly beautiful area of Ghana
The place itself, the surroundings, Patricia, Adyapong, Félix, Doris, Lydia,…are super friendly people, always willing to give good advice, a chat, but also give you time for yourself.
The room and facilities are top notch. The food, yes the food, as a vegetarian I thoroughly enjoyed. Different dishes every day, pretty much organic, local dishes (but not too fatty or spicy) like redred, fufu (which you get to help prepare as a guest, so fun and educational!!!).
The garden is so beautiful and relaxing, big and just to chill on the terrace and watch the birds, squirrels,…is so much fun.
I took the ultimate tour which is a perfect combination of experiencing village life, hiking in the surrounding hills, visiting a nearby national park with waterfalls (where you can have a nice swim), learning about Kente, adinkra and cacao and visiting Ghana’s second largest city Kumasi…really worth booking this tour (by the way food, transport and accommodation are included in the price, which I find very convenient).
To sum everything up. BWO hostel is a perfect guesthouse that lets you enjoy so many different things at a leisurely pace (while also having time for yourself) in a truly beautiful area of Ghana.
What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the fantastically beautiful garden, warm family atmosphere and spacious clean rooms.

HOW MUCH IS THE SINGLE-PERSON SURCHARGE?
This varies, but currently you can expect to pay $39 for the 3-day tour, $55 for the 4-day and $65 for the Ultimate experience extra when you’re booking for 1 person.
ARE THESE PACKAGES SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN OR 'OLDER' PEOPLE?
Yes, in principle. However, keep in mind that this tour does include a number of walks, which in combination with the heat can be quite challenging. However, our guides are very helpful, so there is room for breaks and possible changes of plans.
WE WANT TO GO TO KUMASI SO MUCH BUT HAVE NO TIME FOR THE 4 DAYS ULTIMATE TOUR. CAN WE INCLUDE A KUMASI VISIT IN THE 3-DAY PROGRAM AS WELL?

IS IT POSSIBLE TO INCLUDE THE AKWASIDAE FESTIVAL INTO THE PROGRAM?
Of course! If you book the Ultimate experience tour when the festival takes place, we will certainly include it in the program. The dates of the Akwasidae festival in 2024 are: January 7, February 18, March 31, May 12, June 23, August 4, September 15, November 3 and December 22.

BLISSFUL PLACE WHERE YOU ARE 100% WELCOME
‘Two years ago, I also stayed at this lovely place, which feels like a safe homecoming. No bling-bling luxury, but 100% comfort and delightful peace and quiet. Of course, the reunion with Patricia, Agyapong and the children there also had to do with the happy-again feeling.
As always, there is that tremendous hospitality and Patricia’s attentive look to make everyone comfortable.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and cosy and there is a solid fan in all of them. Everywhere there is a shower, toilet and a comfortable bed
The cosy terrace outside is a real meeting place, where there is always room for a chat.
Patricia’s great pride is the delicious meals. She provides this like no other and in a very personal way.
Breakfast is varied and delicious every morning and all dietary needs and allergies are taken into account for all meals. For Patricia, this is a wonderful challenge where her talents come into their own. It is also great to see how little Lucy puts her best foot forward and is already a great help to mum Patricia.
And last but not least. There are several options to fill your time in a nice way. For instance, the Ashanti tour is the ideal way to discover different places in a short time, participate in workshops, see nature (with the amazing guide Agyapong, who talks about nature with a lot of love).
The guesthouse feels like a blissful place where you are 100% welcome and where Patricia and her team ensure a lovely stay.
