WHAT SHOULD I PACK?
Much less than you would think. We published a blog post about what to bring to Ghana. At the end of the blog post you will find a packing list.
DO I NEED A WORLD PLUG IN GHANA?
In Ghana, the type-G plug is usually used. But there is a newer type of British socket in which you can also easily connect type C plugs. BWO Hostel has changed all power strips to this newer version.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS ABOUT BWO HOSTEL
HOW ARE THE ROOMS EQUIPPED?
Our simple but cosy rooms each have an attached bathroom. Each bathroom has a shower, a toilet and a sink with a mirror. There is also running water. Each room is equipped with a fan.
DO YOU FREQUENTLY HAVE POWER OUTAGES?
In general the outages are not too bad and typically last less than a few hours. There is often an identifiable reason for a possible ‘light off’ for hours or days, such as a heavy thunderstorm. During the day, BWO Hostel runs on solar energy, so we don’t suffer from power outages anyway.
WHAT FOOD DO YOU SERVE? I HAVE A SPECIFIC DIET. IS THAT A PROBLEM?
We can easily adapt to most eating habits/dietary preferences and needs. For example, making vegetarian or vegan food will not be a problem. If you have different eating habits or if you have a food allergy, please talk to me about it.
Please note that our guesthouse serves a mix of Ghanaian and global dishes. Would you like to know more about Ghanaian cuisine? Read this article I wrote about food in Ghana.
DOES BWO HOSTEL HAVE A MENU WE CAN CHOOSE FROM?
We do not have a menu. The reason for this is mainly because we want to serve the freshest and tastiest home-cooked meals. Due to our village location it is not possible to get all the necessary ingredients from Banko.
We serve an extensive breakfast platter, with more choice. So we know there is always something to suit your taste. Our lunches are surprises from the chef, they range from delicious sandwiches to stir-fried noodles, to soups and salads.
Our dinners are delicious. Take a look at our blog post about our guests’ favorite meals. We love vegetables, so no meal is complete without vegetables!
CAN I DO MY LAUNDRY AT THE GUESTHOUSE?
We are happy to wash for you! We do this by hand and we ensure that you get your laundry back fresh. We charge 5 Cedis per item. If you want to wash yourself, that is of course also possible.
IS THERE WIFI IN THE GUESTHOUSE?
Free WiFi is available on the terrace of BWO Hostel, and accessible within some rooms.
