I had a wonderful time at the guesthouse of Banko Women Organization. These were my favorite days in Ghana—I really had an amazing time. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Unique place in a lovely and calm part of Ghana, truly a discovery!
We were there for a couple of days and Patricia made us feel immediately at home. Awesome food all around, from breakfast to dinner and lovely idea of making some workshop about local food!
Definitely a recommendation to anyone who’s travelling in Ghana and wants to spend a few days in a calm and cozy place.
I had a wonderful stay with Patricia and her BWO crew. Not only is it a beautiful place where you can relax on the beautiful terrasse and get awesome food (also vegan/vegetarian). Patricia also does her best to work ecologically and socially responsible by saving plastic, using mostly local resources and connecting her business to Banko Women Organiation to empower women.
There is a lot to do: go hiking to the nearby prayer mountain or in Bomfobiri Wildlife Sanctuary, take a village tour, and much more.
I thus did not only enjoy my stay a lot but also gained highly valuable perspectives on Ghana.

We did the ultimate experience Ashanti tour (instead of a shorter one), because we thought that all activities would be valueable to our experience of Banko and surroundings. It really was a nice tour! We visited exclusive places such as traditional shrines and Prayer’s Mountain and learned a lot. It was nice to be accompanied by lovely tourguides who, since they’re familiar with the place, really add value to the conversations that we had there. The host Pat is also amazing. Together they will make you feel welcome and make sure you’ll enjoy your stay. You can ask them anything.
My stay at BWO hostel was the highlight of my trip to Ghana. Your delightful lodge, the wonderful meals, the evening BBQ, the carefully guided tours – all of it was a magnificent package. I realized a lifetime dream to sit in a waterfall. It was ecstasy! Trekking into the national sanctuary with Mr. Emmanuel, the transport crew, and Park Ranger Daniel was, in itself, a fantastic way to spend a day in the wild. My family felt protected during our exciting hike into the nature reserve. I wouldn’t have ventured into the falls without that security and would have missed (most likely) my last chance for a tremendous moment. The evening BBQ was a lovely way to unwind and interact with the guesthouse team.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. Thank you for being where you are, the way you operate, and the cause you support.
Sincerely,
DELICIOUS FOOD DURING YOUR HOLIDAY IN GHANA – OUR RESTAURANT
Banko is what you would call a delightful and cozy village, and what us locals refer to as “the town”. Sadly, it offers limited dining options. Fortunately, our BWO Restaurant, situated within the BWO Hostel, guarantees a delightful culinary experience that more than makes up for Banko’s limited dining choices.
Our restaurant features a delectable array of home-cooked Ghanaian dishes alongside a selection of international cuisine. Renowned among travelers in Ghana, the BWO Hostel team understands that good food is essential to a memorable journey.
Vegetarian or vegan? Not a problem! We are happy to accommodate any dietary preferences or restrictions within our fixed menu.
Additionally, guests can participate in our ‘traditional cooking‘ workshop, delicious group buffets or indulge in our delightful BBQ offerings.

2 WONDERFUL WEEKS
Perfect location and equally good care in this small guesthouse. If you want to discover Ghana then this is a great base. Near the small town of Banko between the hills and forests. The locals are friendly and welcoming. The nature is beautiful and you are just little over an hour from the big city of Kumasi.
In short, a perfect place to be.
The Banko Women organization team are very courteous and helpful and Pat’s kitchen/cooking skills – Ghanaian with European influence – are very worth mentioning (we thoroughly enjoyed their full board.
All proceeds go directly to Banko Women Organization!
Banko Women Organization (BWO) empowers women in Ghana through education and employment. We offer vocational training, entrepreneurship knowledge, and a safe space for dialogue. Our training center provides courses such as sewing and hairdressing, while BWO Hostel creates job opportunities for students and showcases their handmade products.

Extra Fundraising Needed
You may have heard that US Aid has been suspended with immediate effect. This means that many health programs have lost their funding overnight.
Some of these programs are vital, including for our community. Action is needed to ensure that people here continue to have access to essential services such as polio vaccines, contraception, anti-malaria tablets, and HIV medication.

Hi, I’m Pat, one of the founders of BWO

For years, I was the host and chef at our guesthouse. Now, I’ve passed the baton to my wonderful colleagues, Salo and Maame U. These days, my work takes place more and more at the BWO office and behind the scenes.
Growth means you can’t do everything alone;) But when you visit BWO Hostel, there’s a good chance you’ll run into me, as I live on the same grounds with my partner and two kids.
With great joy, I send out a weekly update from Ghana!
